In addition to lobbying, we also write reports, manuals, and whatever will help promote the creation or implementation of social justice policy.

June 30, 2021: Work It, NYC: A Guide to LGBTQI+ Workplace Inclusivity, a partnership between the NYC Unity Project and the NYC Center for Youth Employment (both entities of the NYC government), written by Andrea Bowen, with edits and support from a wide variety of City agencies and nonprofits. The Mayor’s office was kind enough to include us in the press release, just like they did with Unity Works, one of our other big victories.

June 24, 2021: Housing Plan for LGBTQ+ Communities with Citizens Housing and Planning Council, by Andrea Bowen

November 2017: Solutions Out of Struggle and Survival, with NYC Anti-Violence Project, Audre Lorde Project, GMHC, Make the Road New York, and Translatinx Network, written by Andrea Bowen with editing from all groups, and following their work doing community forums.

September 2014: “Defend (and Understand) Your Transgender Members,” Labor Notes.

2014-2019: Andrea wrote occasionally for Slate, and more recently appeared on their Outward podcast.
